Biosecurity Policy Consultations Meeting Take place The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change held consultations on a draft Biosecurity Policy from 23 to 27 March 2026 with key stakeholders across the Territory. The Policy addresses biosecurity risks posed by increased travel and trade, expanding maritime activity, and climate change. It sets out the strategic framework for a modern, risk-based and unified biosecurity system for the Virgin Islands.

ESHS AND HLSCC Unite To Host 21 Colleges & Universities For Annual College Fair
Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS) and H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) are partnering to host the Annual College Fair on February 13, 2025, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM at the Multipurpose Sports Complex. The fair will feature representatives from 21 colleges and universities worldwide, offering students a chance to explore higher education opportunities. Chief Education Officer Mrs. Orlandette Crabbe highlighted the impact of this collaboration, bridging secondary and post-secondary education. HLSCC President Dr. Richard Georges also praised the partnership. The event is open to the public, with opportunities for on-the-spot acceptance and scholarships. It will feature institutions, including 17 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), Missouri Southern University, and St. George’s University.

Senior Citizens Celebrate Culture and Community at Annual Soirée
The Social Development Department hosted a Seniors’ Cultural Soirée on May 10th to celebrate Senior Citizens’ Month 2025, bringing together local seniors and visitors from the US Virgin Islands. Under the theme “Flip the Script on Aging,” the event showcased Virgin Islands heritage through food, music, and traditions, fostering cultural exchange and community spirit. Minister Vincent O. Wheatley praised the event for honoring elders’ contributions and reaffirmed the Government’s commitment to supporting seniors. The celebration promotes healthy aging, social inclusion, and continued community engagement throughout May.

STATEMENT BY HONOURABLE KYE M. RYMER ON WEST END FERRY TERMINAL PROJECT
Honourable Kye M. Rymer, Minister for Communications and Works, addressed the West End Ferry Terminal project, emphasizing its importance to recovery efforts after Hurricanes Irma and Maria. He explained that bids for the project exceeded the $15 million budget, with proposals of $64 million and $94 million. This has led to a reassessment of the project, including revising its scope and exploring cost-saving measures. The terminal is seen as a key infrastructure development for ferry passengers, yachts, and water taxis, enhancing connectivity between Tortola, Jost Van Dyke, and the USVI. Rymer assured the public that the government remains committed to the project and will provide updates as progress continues.
