Rehabilitation works on the Hannah Hill Reservoir are nearing completion, with water scheduled to begin refilling the Four hundred and eighty thousand (480,000) gallon facility on Tuesday 22nd September 2026, according to Minister for Communications and Works, Honourable Kye M. Rymer. 

The Hannah Hill Reservoir is the first of five reservoirs across the Territory earmarked for repairs, including Minton Hill on Virgin Gorda.

Representatives from Florida Aqua Store commenced rehabilitation works on 6th August which included complete removal and replacement of the reservoir floor panels, replacement of all floor and wall bolts, cleaning and resealing of the interior, sanitisation of the structure, and resealing of the exterior.

Minister Rymer said the rehabilitation works have been completed and final preparations are underway before restoring the reservoir to full operational service.  He also highlighted the installation of a new water-level monitoring system, which will improve operational oversight. 

Honourable Rymer said, "A new water-level gauge and monitoring system has been installed. This will allow operators to observe the water levels from outside the reservoir and accurately determine the volume of water being stored at any given time," He added, "The team has advised that refilling of the reservoir will commence on Tuesday, and we are very pleased to have reached this stage. I want to commend the contractors and technical teams for their dedication and hard work over the past several weeks as we continue restoring critical water infrastructure across the Territory."

Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mrs. Elvia J. Smith-Maduro said the rehabilitation programme represents a significant investment in the Territory's water infrastructure and forms part of the Government's ongoing efforts to improve water reliability and resilience. 

Mrs. Smith Maduro said, "The rehabilitation of our reservoirs is a critical component of strengthening the Territory's water network and improving service delivery to residents. These investments will enhance storage capacity, improve operational efficiency, and support a more reliable water supply system for our communities.”

Meanwhile, Minister Rymer also stated that residents in higher-elevations who have experienced water supply interruptions during the rehabilitation period can now expect the gradual restoration of their water service as the reservoir is refilled and brought back into operation. He said, "We recognise that the temporary closure of the reservoir for these essential repairs has affected customers, particularly those living in higher elevations who have not been receiving a consistent water supply. As the reservoir is refilled and recommissioned, we anticipate that service to these areas will be restored, and we thank residents for their patience and understanding while these critical infrastructure improvements were carried out."

Following the completion of the Hannah Hill Reservoir, work will commence at the Sabbath Hill Reservoir as the programme of upgrading and strengthening the Territory's water storage infrastructure continues. In addition, significant upgrades to the water distribution network have already been completed, including the replacement of sections of the water transmission line with 12-inch HDPE pipes. Installation of pressure-reducing valves along the Ridge Road corridor is also ongoing, with four valve chambers currently being installed between Diamond Estate and Chalwell Estate.
