Mr. Lyndon Hodge has been appointed as Director of the Department of Water and Sewerage effective 1 September, 2026.
Mr. Hodge is a project management and technical operations professional with more than a decade of senior leadership experience. He is also credited for his ability to lead effective organisational transformation in challenging environments.
As Director, Mr. Hodge will oversee the day-to-day operations of the Department of Water and Sewerage, ensuring public policy, public health interventions, and the effective delivery of services throughout the Territory. The new director will also play a vital role as the Department of Water and Sewerage advances to the newly established Virgin Islands Energy and Water Corporation (ViewCo).
Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mrs. Elvia J. Smith-Maduro said, "We are pleased to welcome Mr. Hodge, who brings a wealth of leadership experience to the Department of Water and Sewerage. I am confident in his ability to deliver in the areas of operational efficiency, service delivery, and long-term infrastructure planning, and I look forward to the positive impact his leadership will bring to the department and the wider community.
The new director expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve in the role and highlighted his commitment to effectively leading the department. Mr Hodge said, “I am deeply honoured to accept the appointment as Director of the Water and Sewerage Department and sincerely grateful for the confidence entrusted to me to lead this vital public service.” He added, “ As Director, my focus will be on strengthening the Department through strategic leadership, operational excellence, accountability, innovation, and investment in our people and infrastructure. We must be prepared not only to address the challenges of today, but also to anticipate the demands of tomorrow and build a water and sewerage system capable of serving generations to come.”
Mr. Hodge holds a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from the University of the Virgin Islands and Master’s Degree in Business Administration from the University of Roehampton. His experience spans key leadership roles in the telecommunications sector including Cable and Wireless and Caribbean Cellular Telephone, where he worked as Technical Operations Manager and Head of Sales - Business and Retail, respectively.
