Ministry of Finance Launches Enhanced eTax Portal and Online Tax Payments

The Inland Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance, supported by the Department of Information Technology, has launched its enhanced eTax Filing Portal, online Payment Gateway, and Internal Operations Portal at efiling.gov.vg. 

The eTax Filing Portal was officially launched  as of Monday, 2 November 2026.  The upgraded system allows employers, taxpayers, and tax agents to file Payroll Tax declarations and pay all tax types, including Property Tax, online using a credit or debit card. 

Premier and Minister of Finance Honourable. Natalio D. Wheatley said; “Today marks an important step in our journey to deliver modern, people-centred public services. With eTax, employers and taxpayers can file their returns and pay what they owe online, at any time and from anywhere, without needing to visit a Government office. This makes the Virgin Islands an easier place to do business and reflects this Government’s commitment to using technology to serve our people better. I commend the Inland Revenue Department and the Department of Information Technology for delivering this milestone.”

Employers can manually enter employee details or batch-import CSV spreadsheets from existing templates, automatically calculate tax totals, save work in progress, and process full online corrections for past submitted periods. 

The enhanced portal is designed to streamline payroll submissions with improved speed and accuracy. By centralizing assessment data, the upgrade enables Inland Revenue officers to resolve queries faster while introducing accelerated card processing and secure digital records, strengthening the Territory's revenue management and long-term financial stability. 

Existing users can sign in with their current credentials, new users can register online or view the step-by-step eTax Quick Guide, and general inquiries can be directed to bvitaxes@gov.vg or (284) 468-2155.

              The Ministry of Finance is tasked with a broad range or responsibilities that incluce the development and implementation of the government’s budget, revenue collection, financial reporting, and the management of public debt.  The Ministry also oversees economic planning, ensuring that the Territory’s economic polocies support growth and stability.
