The National Security Council (NSC) held its weekly meeting today under the chairmanship of His Excellency the Acting Governor, Mr. David D. Archer, Jr.


During the meeting, the Interim Acting Commissioner of Police, Mr. Richard Ullger, briefed the Council on the investigation of the murder of a male that occurred in the Purcell Estate area shortly after 7:00 a.m. today.


The NSC strongly condemns this heinous and brazen act and reiterates its deep concern over the loss of life in an illegal and violent manner. The Council extends its deepest condolences to the family and any other loved ones of the victim.


The NSC will continue to work diligently with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force to use the full weight of the law to apprehend those responsible and bring them to justice.


The Council assures the public that RVIPF will use all of its resources and capacity to keep the community safe during this Christmas season.


The NSC continues to call on the public to support the police in preventing and detecting crime. Individuals with relevant information are encouraged to contact the police, call Crime Stoppers, or use the confidential and untraceable hotline at 800-8477 (TIPS), 800-847-8477, or 368-9339.


The NSC is responsible for matters concerning internal security and major developments affecting the safety of the Territory. It is chaired by the Governor and includes as members the Premier, the Minister for Communications and Works, the Attorney General, and the Commissioner of Police. The Cabinet Secretary facilitates the Council’s operations.
