Who Can Access These Reports?

Reports are public documents and can be accessed by:

  • Mariners and vessel operators
  • Regulatory agencies and industry stakeholders
  • Researchers, media, and the general public
How to Access Reports

Review a Report Online

  1. Browse the Marine Safety Reports section, where investigation reports and safety alerts are organised for easy access.
  2. Select and download the report you are interested in.
  3. Review the recommendations and findings directly from the published document.

Request a Report by Email

  1. If the report you need is not available online, prepare a request including:
    • Your name and contact information
    • The title, date, or reference of the report you are seeking
    • The reason for your request (optional but helpful)
  2. Send your request to MSIRA@gov.vg.
  3. The MSIRA team will respond with instructions or send the requested report directly to your email.

What Reports Are Available?

  • Final Investigation Reports – Comprehensive documents that detail the causes, contributing factors, and recommendations following an accident.
     
  • Safety Alerts – Urgent notices issued when immediate action is required to prevent further accidents, released before a final report is completed.

What to Expect from Published Reports

  • Reports focus solely on improving maritime safety and preventing future accidents.
  • They do not assign blame, establish liability, or enforce laws.
  • Safety recommendations included in reports may lead to changes in regulations, procedures, or practices within the maritime sector.
