Marine Accident and Incident Investigation

The Marine Safety Investigation and Reporting Authority (MSIRA) conducts independent investigations into marine accidents in Virgin Islands waters and on BVI-registered vessels worldwide. Reports can be made 24/7, enabling swift evidence collection. Investigations focus on identifying causes and issuing safety recommendations to prevent future incidents, with findings shared publicly to promote maritime safety—without assigning blame or liability.
