The Social Development Department provides a wide cadre of services to meet the holistic needs of its service population. These services are:
- Family, Children, Protective Services (Adoption, Foster Care, Children Residential Services, Children and Family Support Services)
- Social Protection (Public Assistance, Day Care Assistance, Social Housing, Legal Aid)
- Aged Care Services (Home Care Services, Seniors' Recreational Services, Seniors' Engagement)
- Disability Services (Early Intervention, Autism, Vocational Services/BVI Services-Job Placement)
- Community Services (Community Development, Offender Management Services)

To provide the Virgin Islands (British) population with effective social service to empower, promote and enrich their quality of life, while fostering individual independence.

We envision the Social Development Department as a compassionate, accountable and responsive organization that will effectively and efficiently deliver the highest level of social services and improve the quality of life of every resident and citizen of the BVI.
