The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports will showcase young Virgin Islands entrepreneurs in the 2015 Youth in Business Exposition on Friday, October 23.

The event is being held under the theme: “Innovate to Grow: Encouraging Youth Entrepreneurship for a Vibrant Economy.”

Acting Director of the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mrs. Brenda Lettsome-Tye said the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports in its continued celebration of Caribbean Youth Day will feature young entrepreneurs at the first Youth in Business Exposition.

She said, “We are highlighting young people between the ages of 18 and 30 who have had the vision, inspiration and tenacity to create a business out of their passion. We believe in the abilities of our youth and take this opportunity to not only applaud them, but to showcase their talents and creativity.”

Mrs. Lettsome-Tye said the objective of the exposition is to provide Virgin Islands youth entrepreneurs the opportunity to share the best of their business and service to the community, all the while encouraging the importance of entrepreneurship in the community, especially amongst the youth. She is also urging the community to support the upcoming activity.

The Youth in Business Exposition will include a variety of youth-owned businesses in the construction, apparel and accessories, beauty and cosmetics, and transportation categories.

The event will commence with an opening ceremony with remarks by the Premier and Minister for Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE and Minister for Education and Culture, Honourable Myron V. Walwyn. There will be hourly giveaways, entertainment by youth entrepreneurs and a fashion show.

The 2015 Youth in Business Exposition will take place at Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Friday, October 23 from noon until 6:00 p.m.

Persons are encouraged to attend and support the 2015 Youth in Business Exposition as the Department of Youth Affairs and Sports continues to cultivate an environment to equip and empower youth in the Virgin Islands through programme development and community partnership.
