Residents are encouraged to take precautions and to assist in clean-up efforts following the impact of the recent flood caused by the passage of a tropical wave.

Manager at the Department of Waste Management, Mr. Greg Massicote said persons can assist by cleaning and disposing of garbage from their property, removing derelict vehicles and boats that may have been flooded and avoiding blocking the bins with bulky waste.

Mr. Massicote said his department was mobilised following the floods, and has worked alongside hired help in cleaning drains and removing mud from along the road sides. He said Road Town and other affected areas are being cleaned including the removal of bulky and business waste.

Mr. Massicote stated, “Since the flood, our mission was very clear. Our approach was to get rid of the all bulky and other types of waste that were generated as a result of the storm, assist in the removal of  mud from the road drains and then sweep the streets using the Department’s mechanical sweeper.”

 He added, “Our sweeper will be out every morning from Monday to Friday until the dust clears. The sweeper operates within the area between Prospect Reef and the roundabout in Pasea from 2:00 to 6:00 a.m. Persons are advised to use caution during those times while traversing those areas.”
