BVI Finance, in collaboration with TEAM BVI Latin America, hosted a series of events in Latin America to promote the BVI as the premier offshore financial services jurisdiction and mark the return of the BVI Road Show.

Held under the theme “BVI - the Choice for Global Business”, the multi-city event made stops in Sao Paulo, Brasil on 16 May; Montevideo, Uruguay on 18 May; and Buenos Aires, Argentina on 20 May.

Panelists for each city’s event were chosen based on their intellectual prowess, dedication to the development and progression of the BVI’s financial services industry and knowledge of the specific needs of the Latin American market.

For the Sao Paulo event the panelists included Michelle Herissier of JTC BVI, Jose Mauricio of Miguel Neto Advogados, Fernando Zanotti of Abe Advogados and Martin Litwak of Litwak & Partners; for the Montevideo event the panelists included Alvaro Tringolo of ATG Asociados International Fiduciary Services, David Payne of AMS Financial and Martin Litwak of Litwak & Partners and for the Buenos Aires event panelists included Javier Canosa of Canosa Abogados and Santiago Isbert of Alcogal Buenos Aires Office.

The road show introduced the jurisdiction’s products and services that are most appropriate for Latin American business to a wide variety of professionals from the business community including top tier bankers and lawyers, financial services consultants, accountants, investment and wealth advisors and administrators.

Marketing Manager of BVI Finance, Mrs. Alicia Green said, “We have spent over 5 years developing a relationship with the Latin American market and we’re very excited to collaborate with TEAM BVI LatAm to further provide guidance and support.” She added, “We have recognised the value of having local voices that are able to speak confidently on their experience working with BVI structures and provide third party credibility to boast of our compliant and competent regime.”

During each event, attendees were given the opportunity to discuss the use of compliant offshore jurisdictions in the era of transparency. Topics raised at the forum included: using BVI for wealth management; new additions to the funds offering; asset protection, repatriation and accounting procedures as it relates to amnesty; developments in BVI for Latin America; beneficial owner disclosure requirements and FATCA and CRS reporting.

Team BVI LatAm leader, Martin Litwak, said, “In all three cities the panelists engaged in very interesting discussions with the audience and I am sure that everyone that attended left with a very positive impression of the jurisdiction and the products we offer.”

He further added, “It has always been a pleasure and an honor to lead Team BVI LatAm and to work with Alicia Green and the BVI Finance team. I am overall very happy with the results we obtained and especially the message we were able to convey on behalf of the British Virgin Islands.”

Last held in 2011, BVI Road Shows are used to provide focused introductions and updates of the financial services industry to localized regions and have been held in Hong Kong, Switzerland, London, New York and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
