The Ministry of Health and Social Development received a donation of 3000 children and adult face masks from the Lion’s Club of Tortola.

The face masks were formally gifted by the Lion’s Club Hong Kong, International Finance Centre (IFC) and presented by the Lion’s Club of Tortola on September 10.

Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone accepted the donation stating that it was an appropriate gesture as certain aspects of schools begin to re-open and with the assistance of the Social Distancing Task Force to ensure that the face masks will be put to good use.

The Lion’s Club’s Vice President Nichola Dunkley along with other Lion’s Club members made the presentation and expressed their gratitude to able to assist the Ministry of Health and Social Development during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

Face masks are now a requirement under the Public Health COVID-19 Control and Suppression Measure Order to be worn in public spaces such as establishments, gathering and public transportation in an effort to suppress and protect the Virgin Islands community from the virus.

The public and business owners are reminded that failure to adhere to health and safety measures and requirements outlined in the Order can result in fines and penalties.

The Lions Club of Tortola consist of men and women who identify needs within their communities and volunteer their services by working together to fulfill those needs.
