Postmaster General Pascha Stoutt has said that the restoration of mailbox services throughout the Territory remains one of the top priorities of the BVI Post.

Ms. Stoutt said, “On the forefront of our agenda is a comprehensive approach to restoring mailboxes throughout the Territory in a more structured, resilient and sustainable manner.”

She added, “Consultations on the way forward can be finalised as early as this week when official talks will be facilitated through a visiting consultant.”

The BVI Post also joins the international postal community in observing World Post Day, today, Tuesday, October 9. The day is used by post offices around the world to promote their postal products and services and is observed on the anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (UPU) in 1874 in the Swiss Capital, Bern.  

The UPU is a United Nations (UN) Agency that regulates international postal services.  The United Kingdom signed onto this agreement and on its own behalf that of its British Overseas Territories, which includes the Virgin Islands. 

Ms. Stoutt said the Virgin Islands is also celebrating the commemorative stamp issue that features the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex. 

The BVI Post aims to provide the Territory with continued, reliable, affordable and unprecedented mail service, as they strive to implement critical initiatives required to deliver operational excellence and exceed its commitments to customers.
