The Social Distancing Task Force is in full operation as of October 5 to enforce the provisions of the Public Health (Covid-19 Control and Suppression Measures) (No. 7) Order, 2020.

The Social Distancing Task Force, under the supervision of the Environmental Health Division, consists of 43 officers who are stationed on Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke and Anegada.

Officers will be responsible for the daily monitoring of designated areas in the Territory to ensure businesses and individuals are in compliance with preventative health and safety measures such as wearing of face masks in public spaces, maintaining gathering sizes, physical distancing and sanitisation protocols and measures.

Deputy Chief Environmental Health Officer, Ms. Henrietta Alexander said that the Territory continues to strengthen its capacity in various sectors to minimise the transmission of COVID-19.

She explained that the task force plays a vital role in supporting that cause by undergirding the compliance of the public in adhering to the Public Health (Covid-19 Control and Suppression Measures) (No. 7) Order, 2020 which was established for protection and wellbeing.
