Minister for Transportation, Works and Utilities, Honourable Kye Rymer has said that meetings have been held with more than 100 Taxi Operators throughout the Territory to communicate and agree on effective routes and schedules for the Park and Ride Free Shuttle Service initiative.

Honourable Rymer and a team of officials from his ministry including Director of Taxi and Livery Commission, Mr. Jevaughn Parsons recently met with Taxi Operators on Anegada to complete the meetings and ensure that all Taxi Operators in the Territory are given an opportunity to utilise the stimulus being offered to them by the Government of the Virgin Islands.

Honourable Rymer said, “The Government of the Virgin Islands is committed to providing a Pedestrian Friendly City, through the City Park and Ride Free Shuttle Service initiative. Currently there are three islands already utilising a schedule actively through the stimulus. They are Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Jost Van Dyke with Anegada to be active by August’s end.”

Premier and Minister of Finance, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie had stated in his statement on the Phase Two Economic Plan ‘Social Protection and Economic Stimulation in COVID-19’ that it is a great opportunity being afforded to the Territory’s taxi operators.

“This is an excellent opportunity for our taxi operators who have been unable to work due to COVID-19 to get back on their feet, and take care of themselves and their families,” Premier Fahie said at the time.
