The ‘Protect Each Other’ Vaccination Drive-Thru has been extended for the period Thursday, September 2 to Saturday, September 4, 2021.

A total of 885 vaccines have been administered during the last four-day drive-thru from Saturday, August 28 to Tuesday, August 31 which compares with the 887 vaccinations administered during the first weekend of “Operation Protect Each Other” during mid-July.

Chair of the COVID-19 Community Mobilisation Committee Dr. Karl Dawson praised persons who came out previously stating, “As expected while most persons were taking their first jab in July, most recipients are now seeking their second jab although about 10 per cent of all persons vaccinated in the current drive received their first vaccine over the past few days. We encourage persons to follow through on their second jab while inviting first timers. Please note that it is not mandatory that you receive the jab on the date listed on your card but anytime within.”

The drive through event will open from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Persons must be 18 years of age and older and must have a form of government identification such as a driver’s licence or NHI card for verification purposes. Persons should be prepared to spend up to 45 minutes at the drive through and should wear a short-sleeved shirt for easy access to be immunised. Walk-ins are welcomed.

Persons not on Tortola can continue to get their second dose at the following locations: Virgin Gorda at the Nurse Iris O’Neal Medical Centre from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. and at the North Sound Clinic by appointment. Residents on Anegada are asked to schedule appointments by telephone at 852-7784 and on Jost Van Dyke by telephone at 852-7796.

Vaccines can also be accessed from the following private healthcare facilities namely Bougainvillea and Eureka Clinic, Penn Medical Centre, BVI Medical Centre and B&F Medical Centre.

Registration forms can be completed in advance by downloading the document from https://ministryofhealth.gov.vg/vaccines. Persons aged 18 and older are encouraged to pre-fill registration forms available online or register on site and wear their face masks.

COVID-19 vaccines paired with all health measures such as hand washing and sanitising, proper face mask wearing and physical distancing can provide optimal protection as countries around the world are still adjusting to living in the COVID-19 era.
