The Customs Department continues to protect the Territory’s borders from illicit drugs. On Friday, June 19, officers seized over six pounds of marijuana imported into the Territory via the Terrance B. Lettsome International Airport.

Assistant Commissioner for Enforcement, Mr. Clinton Romney said Her Majesty’s Customs’ K-9 Unit and Mobile Task Force Unit intercepted a quantity of plant matter that appeared to be marijuana.

Mr. Romney said, “The substance was imported through a courier service via the T.B. Lettsome International Airport.  After further investigation, officers from the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force were called to give assistance.”

He added, “The substance weighed approximately 6.54 lbs and investigations into the matter are ongoing."

The Customs Department is currently working with the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force for the ongoing investigation, and remains committed to preventing illicit drugs from entering the Territory.
