Chief Information Officer, Ms. Desiree Smith is photographed as she was presented a VHF radio from Emergency Communications Manager at the Department of Disaster Management, Mr. Jasen Penn. The radio will be used to ensure that the department remains in contact with other relevant emergency entities in the event of a disaster. The donation is part of VHF Communications System project that is expected to benefit multiple Government stakeholders including the Governor’s Group, the BVI Airports Authority, HM Customs, the Immigration Department, Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue, Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, Her Majesty’s Prison, the Department for Disaster Management and the National Emergency Operations Centre.
