 The Virgin Islands Government has advanced itsEmbarkation/Disembarkation Card process by making it digital,with the recently implemented Online ED Card System from January 1. 

Acting Chief Immigration Officer Mrs. Nadia Demming-Hodge said thetransformation, while still ongoing, was deemed necessary to facilitate smoother processes for travelers upon their arrival at the ports of entry.

Mrs. Demming-Hodge stated that the new system will simultaneously improveand enhance the department’s data collection capabilities that will later be utilised to support border security initiatives and new tourism policies

Travelers should visit bviedcard.gov.vg to fill their Online ED Card by completing arrival, personal, travel destination, family (where applicable), and declaration sections of the form. Upon successful completion, the applicant will receive an email entailing completion notifications for both entry and declaration of goods to His Majesty’s Customs.  These documents, which entail a barcode can be presented to the Immigration and Customs Officer.  

The Online ED Card can be completed as early as 72 hours prior to travel date, or as late as upon arrival, but must be completed before seeking entry from anImmigration Officer.

The Department of Immigration will continue to advance its use of technology to enhance its services and the traveler experience. The department will be launching aninitiative tailored to charter vessels and aircrafts to enable these carriers to experience seamless and more efficient clearance process at ports of entry, ultimately benefiting their guests with significantly reducing wait times.
