The highly anticipated Public Service Week event “The Last Man Standing Challenge” has been labeled a success.

The event was held at the Queen Elizabeth II Park on Thursday, October 11 and saw Public Officers attempting to complete the course to win one of the five prizes that were up for grabs.

The first circuit to be completed in the allotted time of 30 minutes included laps, sit-ups, squats and jumping jacks. The Iron Man Challenge was the second circuit where officers had to complete six challenges to earn qualifying points for their team.

The winners of the female category of the challenge were Shari’a Romney who won round trip tickets to St. Thomas compliments of Native Son Incorporated, Doneisha Maduro the winner of solar lights compliments of Infinite Solutions, and Sadiqua Chinnery won a lunch for two at Charlie’s Restaurant.

The winners in the male category of the challenge were Sequan Lettsome who won a two night stay for two persons at the Anegada Reef Resort and Nigel Caines who won a dinner for two at the Red Rock Restaurant and Bar.

The purpose of the Last Man Standing Fitness Challenge was to bring about awareness and appreciation for fitness and its importance to health and safety at the workplace, and to sensitise Public Officers about the new Health and Safety Policy. There was also health screening for blood pressure and blood sugar on-site.

Health and Safety Coordinator, Mrs. Dawn Leonard said the support for the Last Man Standing Challenge was overwhelming and that it was a huge success.

Mrs. Leonard said, “Our objectives of highlighting fitness in a fun way while promoting the recently launched Workplace Health and Safety Policy and Procedure Manual was achieved. I would like to take this opportunity to encourage all Public Officers to become familiar with the policy.”

Ms. Leonard added that the private/public partnerships in support of the event was also tremendous and that helped to make the event the success it was. She thanked the sponsors of the event and all the participants, and stated that she was looking forward to the challenge becoming an annual featured event during Public Service Week.
