His Excellency the Governor Mr. Augustus Jaspert left the Territory today for the United Kingdom where he will be attending the Joint Ministerial Council Meeting (JMC).

The JMC provides an opportunity for UK Ministers and officials to meet with Premiers and Chief Ministers of the Overseas Territories to discuss a range of topics and to agree the way forward on a number of matters.

 Acting Executive Private Secretary to the Governor, Mrs. Arliene T. Penn said, "This year, discussions will include the impacts of BREXIT, constitutional relationships, financial services and disaster resilience, amongst many other topics of mutual interest. The Governor is looking forward to taking part in those engagements."

Mrs. Penn added that in accordance with section 37(1)(a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order 2007, Deputy Governor Mr. David Archer Jr. will act in the office of the Governor with effect Thursday, November 29 to Monday, December 10 during the absence of the Governor from the Territory.
