Father’s Day Message
June 21, 2020

Greetings,

And a blessed Father’s Day to all fathers of these Beautiful Virgin Islands.

It is truly a privilege being blessed with the gift of Fatherhood.  Even our Heavenly Father said “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.”

We are reminded that children are a heritage, God’s best gift.

As fathers we are to look to the Heavenly Father’s example and ensure that when our children, become adults, we have provided as best as we can for them; a legacy; an example, and a blueprint to follow.

Today I say thank you Papa, William Rymer my grandfather, for it is your foundation that I stand.

Jesus said, I go to prepare a place for you, that where I am there ye may be also.  He also said, greater works than these shall ye do.

Because of the provisions that the father gave to us, we are able to build on it and do great works.  Likewise fathers, our accomplishments are as a result of the works that have been laid before us.  We therefore have a duty to pick up the mantle, and press forward with our assignment as Fathers.

I have two lovely daughters that my beautiful wife Susan and I continue to raise to be their best selves.  As their Father I am not perfect, but as our Honourable Premier would say, “Don’t let perfect become the enemy of the greater good”

The greater good is ensuring that I am there to be a man’s love in their lives, to be their security, a voice of hope, their cheerleader, confidant, even at best, the symbol of a Virgin Islands Father.

I sound another call, this Father’s day, rather a challenge; Men, Father’s, Uncles, Brothers, god-Fathers, let us decide that we will not let our imperfect selves, stop the good that we have in our hearts.  Let us move thru the good.  Let us put our good to action.

For as we put our good to action, we will be the better for it; and if we continue to get better, we will find ourselves being our Best selves, and the epitome of a Virgin Islander Daddy.

That said, to all the Daddy’s of these beautiful Virgin Islands, especially those of the 5th District.

Happy Daddy day to you all, and may God continue to bless these Beautiful Virgin Islands.

Thank You.
