Release Date:

Persons across the Territory including private/public sectors and students are invited to attend a two day conference which will focus on how innovation driven technology can transform the BVI’s economy.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is set to host the FinTech Immersion conference at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College (HLSCC) on July 23 and 24.

This public-private partnership, billed as a ‘FinTech immersion initiative’ follows the 2018 BVI Asia Trade Mission led by Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE, when he visited several FinTech officials and entities, including the Monetary Authority of Singapore, the National University of Singapore (NUS), and Crimson Logic which runs more than one Caribbean FinTech programme.

In an era where there continues to be a significant increase in the demand to conduct business on the go and at a faster pace, including from one’s mobile phone, businesses including government, will become knowledgeable about how FinTech improves our daily activities, and how to stay ahead of the curve and remain competitive.

Participants will learn more about block chain technology, monetising data and developing unique funding streams, crypto currencies, how to use actionable intelligence and data to drive effective decision making.

This intensive conference will be facilitated by Professor Keith Carter from the National University of Singapore (Computing) and will be held under the theme “Think Differently – The Great Digital Disruption and the New Internet Economy.”

Sponsorship partners of the event include the Financial Services Commission, BVI Tourist Board, BVI Finance, H. Lavity Stoutt Community College and the Bank of Asia.

Persons interested in partnering in this venture as a sponsor can contact BVI Finance at email info@bvifinance.vg or telephone 1(284) 542-9725.
