His Majesty’s Customs Department observed International Customs Day on Sunday, January 26 with activities including a church service at the Road Town Methodist Church to commemorate the occasion.
Premier of the Virgin Islands, Honourable Dr. Natalio Wheatley, is featured alongside Financial Secretary Mr. Jeremiah Frett, Deputy Financial Secretary Mr. Jeremy Vanterpool, Acting Commissioner Mr. Greg Romney and other Customs officers following the service. Other activities included a luncheon in honor of the vital role of customs in ensuring efficiency, security, and prosperity in global trade and border security. This year's activities are being observed under the theme, "Customs Delivering on its Commitment to Efficiency, Security, and Prosperity," and highlights the dedication of customs officials in the Virgin Islands.
International Customs Day is observed annually since 1953 to highlight the vital role of customs in maintaining global trade and border security.
