Press Release
MONEY MATTERS BVI (the financial literacy programme at the BVI Financial Services Commission) will be hosting a Lunch & Learn event to address issues surrounding Wills and Estate Planning on Wednesday, May 15, from 1:00 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at Financial Services Commission Training Centre.
The moderated discussion will traverse areas of concern such the advantages to putting in place an effective estate plan and the documents that could be included therein; reasons why persons do not make Wills and the legal consequences inaction; things to consider when making a Will; and the consequences of having a poorly drafted Will.
During the scheduled lunchtime session, the moderator, Mrs. Karia Christopher will prod a panel of legal professionals including those from the sponsoring law firms, O’Neal Webster, Samuels Richardson & Co, Harbour Chambers, and Maximea & Co Law Chambers, with questions in hopes of dispelling the many misconceptions that have prevented persons from taking steps to put in place solid personal estate planning measures.
The MONEY MATTERS BVI team has planned the Lunch & Learn on a date which coincides with International Families Day and Senior Citizens Month, and hope that persons who are not able to physically attend will tune in to the live stream on Facebook @MoneyMattersBVI, and also join in the conversation.
All attendees at the Lunch & Learn session will receive a $50 discount coupon to be applied toward the cost of having their Wills prepared at any one of the sponsoring law firms.
