The Office of the Deputy Governor has announced new appointments to various Service Commissions. These appointments were confirmed in 2024 and are in accordance with their respective constitutional requirements.
Public Service Commission
Ms. Ayana Hull was appointed to the Public Service Commission, in accordance with section 91 of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 No. 1678 (2007).
Police Service Commission
One chairperson and four members were appointed to the Police Service Commission in accordance with section 96 of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 No. 1678 (2007).
Mr. Preston Stoutt appointed as Chairperson for a period of 2 years.
Mr. Christopher Varlack appointed as a member for a period of three years.
Mr. Vere Browne appointed as a members for a period of 2 years.
Mr. Neville Smith appointed as member for a period of 2 years.
Mr. Kenneth Matthew appointed as a member for a period of 2 years.
Judicial and Legal Services Commission
Acting Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, Honourable Mario Michel was appointed to the Judicial and Legal Services Commission as Chairperson following his appointment as Acting Chief Justice.
Justice Gerhard Wallbank was appointed as a member for a period of 2 years.
Ms. V. Inez Archibald appointed as a member, following her appointment as Chair of the Public Service Commission.
Ms. Astra Davies Penn and Ms. Ann Monica Allen Encontre were appointed as members for a period of 2 years.
Teaching Service Commission
In accordance with section 93 of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007 No. 1678 (2007), the following individuals were appointed to the Teaching Service Commission:
Mr. Wade Tobin appointed as Chairperson for a period of 2 years.
Ms. Mavis S. Abednego appointed as a member for a period of 2 years.
Ms. Rochelle Smith appointed as a member for a period of 3 years.
The role of the Service Commissions is to provide advice on appointments and removals from public offices as well as exercise disciplinary control over persons holding or acting in such offices in consultation with His Excellency the Governor.
