Employees and visitors of the BVI Health Services Authority can expect to see changes to the institution’s security policies and procedures over the coming weeks.

Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Ronald Georges said the security changes took effect on January 1 following the signing of a contract between the Authority and FLR Enterprises.

Dr. Georges said that outsourcing security services will allow the contractor to focus on improving the security services on the premises within the policies set out by the Authority.

“We will give them the requirements and they will execute, this will allow for more rapid response times and effective monitoring,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer also stated that the contract will allow for a more targeted concentration on the security of the Authority’s clients and visitors and that he expects to see the strengthening of critical areas and improved relations with internal and external stakeholders.

He added, “We foresee improved relationship between the Authority and key stakeholders like the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force, Fire and Rescue Services and Her Majesty’s Prison as well as patients, visitors, and the general public.”

The present security staff was given the option to receive a severance package or to be re-located to units that required additional staff.

BVI Health Services Authority is committed to becoming the leader and preferred provider of Health Care in the Virgin Islands and regionally.
