Eligible persons are encouraged to register to vote by September 4 for inclusion on the 2017 Official Voters List.

Supervisor of Elections, Ms. Juliette Penn said annually, outside an election year, the Office of the Supervisor of Elections produces an official list of voter reflecting changes from the previous year.  This includes persons who have attained the age of 18 years and are now eligible to vote.

Ms. Penn said in order to be qualified to register to vote, a person must be a Belonger, 18 years of age or older, and domiciled and resident in the Virgin Islands or domiciled in the Virgin Islands and resident in the United States Virgin Islands. 

Documents to be presented when registering are a birth certificate, Virgin Islands Passport or a Belonger’s Card. A naturalisation certificate can also be used, provided the certificate is dated before June 15, 2007.

Additionally, in accordance with Section 17(1) of the Elections (Amendment) Act No. 14 of 2011, persons who have moved their place of residence and wish to transfer are encouraged to apply for a change on or before September 4, 2017.

Supporting documentary evidence can be in the form of cable, water or electricity bills, a rent receipt or a notarised document, stating the new address.

Registration and transfer forms are available at the Office of the Supervisor of Elections, at post office locations throughout the Territory, at the District Offices on Anegada and Virgin Gorda, and at the Government Office on Jost Van Dyke.
