The Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change is seeking applications for five positions of Members of the Planning Authority Board, as established under the Physical Planning Act, 2004.

According to Section 6 of the Physical Planning Act, 2004, the principal responsibility of the Planning Authority Board is advance the purposes of the Physical Planning Act and other associated and relevant development planning laws of the Virgin Island.

The board also institutes, completes, maintains and keeps under review a study of matters pertinent to planning the use and development of the land of the Territory;  prepare or cause to be prepared development plans in accordance with relevant provisions of the Physical Planning Act.

 A person selected on the Board shall possess a Bachelor’s degree and have Knowledge and experience inland development matters, environmental, coastal, and marine matters, agriculture, commerce, and industry.

Applicants must also have knowledge in economic and financial matters; Crown lands; housing; infrastructure and utilities; and any other area of public interest that the Minister considers relevant to physical planning; at least seven (7) years’ experience in planning, architecture building designs or building engineering or 15 years in the respective professional fields, of which at least eight years’ experience shall be as a resident and a professional in the Virgin Islands.

Successful applicants shall be prepared to commit to serve in the first instance for not less than two years nor more than three years.
