Press Release
The New Nurse Iris O’Neal Medical Centre Pledge programme will be launched on Virgin Gorda as efforts continue to improve health care services across the Territory.
Chief Executive Officer, Mrs. Paula Chester-Cumberbatch said that the purpose of the pledge programme is to seek funding to assist with outfitting the medical centre upon the completion of construction which is scheduled for December.
Mrs. Chester-Cumberbatch said the launch will be held on Friday, October 26 with an opening ceremony and health fair on Virgin Gorda beginning at 10:00 a.m. Residents will receive free health checks and lifesaving health information. Scheduled tours of the medical centre will also be organised and persons will get an opportunity to make a donation to the pledge programme.
The medical centre will boast a laboratory, imaging, pharmacy, urgent medical services and expanded clinic areas.
“As we near the completion of construction, we are seeking the community’s support to offset the cost to outfit the building with the necessary equipment and supplies required to provide optimum health care for the residents and visitors of Virgin Gorda and neighboring islands,” Mrs. Chester-Cumberbatch added.
All donations will be given at a gift level and displayed on the new medical centre’s donor wall. Donors will also receive advertisement space in the June 2019 edition of the Pulse Magazine in addition to having their name or the name of the organisation or church mentioned in press releases and audio and video productions.
Residents on Virgin Gorda are encouraged to attend the opening ceremony and health fair and to also pledge their support to improve the healthcare in the BVI.
Persons can tune in to the BVIHSA report on ZBVI 780 on Tuesday, October 23 and Thursday, October 25 at 9:00 a.m. to learn more about the pledge programme and health fair.
BVI Health Services Authority is committed to delivering excellent, compassionate, client-centered healthcare across the Territory.
