Press Release
The Environmental Health Division is notifying the public of the recall of Fratelli Beretta Ready-to-Eat Charcuterie Meat Products due to possible under processing.
The Ready-to-Eat Coppa products have varying best by dates, however the products subject to recall bears the following establishment number “EST. M47967 or M7543B” inside the USDA mark of inspection or in inkjet print on the front of the package.
The recall, issued by Fratelli Beretta USA, Inc. is due to the under processing of products containing Coppa (dry cured pork), which may have resulted in possible contamination with foodborne pathogens.
These products were shipped to distributors and retails locations worldwide, including the Virgin Islands. Officials from the Environmental Health Division are in communication with associated retailers, who have since removed the affected products from their shelves. Some of the products were however sold to the public.
The Ministry advises persons who may be in possession of the recalled products to discontinue use immediately and to return to the place of purchase.
The Ministry of Health and Social Development, Environmental Health Division will continue to monitor the situation and advise the public, where necessary. For more information persons can contact the division at 468-5110.
The Government of the Virgin Islands is committed to improving the health of the people of the Territory.
