The public is reminded that in accordance with the National Parks Trust Act of 2006, it is illegal to remove plants from national parks, including the Queen Elizabeth II Park.

Persons are also asked to desist from harvesting and consuming the type of guinea grass called Fakahatchee grass (pronounced Faka-hat-chee), or gamma grass in the QEII Park. This grass is a southeastern ornamental native that is gaining popularity among landscapers and homeowners for landscaping purposes. It has been commonly mistaken for the locally known “lemongrass” that is typically used to make hot beverages.
