Residents and visitors to the British Virgin Islands are reminded that it is unlawful to import plants and/or plant materials into the Territory without a valid Import Permit.

In accordance with the Plant Protection Act (Cap. 93), the permit must be requested and obtained prior to the procurement of any consignment. It is therefore illegal to request the permit after you have already procured your consignment.

Persons are asked to download the permit request form by visiting the Government’s website at www.bvi.gov.vg and submitted to the Department of Agriculture at Paraquita Bay.  Failure to comply will result in the consignment being confiscated or it being denied entry into the British Virgin Islands.

The Department of Agriculture will endeavour to process all requests within 3 to 5 days. For further information, contact the department at 468-9212.
