Press Release

Office of the Deputy Governor
Release Date:
Friday, 8 May 2020 - 10:15am

The Public Service will extend its operating hours from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily following the extension of the Territory’s curfew, which begins on Sunday, May 10 as announced by Premier of the Virgin Islands, Honourable Andrew A. Fahie.

Deputy Governor, Mr. David D. Archer, Jr. through a Circular addressed to Public Officers today said, “As we work in a new environment, requiring remote and flexible working hours to accommodate the needs of public officers and customers, the Public Service will operate from 8:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. daily commencing Monday, 11th May, 2020.”

The Deputy Governor said the extended hours of operation are necessary at this critical time to maximise resources and to ensure full access to all Government services by the public. This, he said, is part of the continued efforts to adapt to and live with the new realities that we face in light of COVID-19.

Mr. Archer, Jr. thanked all public officers for their continued efforts in ensuring that everyone can function in a safe and healthy workspace while rebooting the economy. He said that he is proud of the officers who continue to provide services to the Government’s clients, especially during the COVID-19 period.

The Public Service physically reopened on May 4 and currently operates from 8:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
