Press Release
Public Officers are expected to build healthy working relationships during the annual Public Service Week 2018, which is being held from October 8 through October 15.
The 2018 theme, “Transforming Together”, builds on the Public Service Transformation Initiative to create a World Class Public Service.
Chairperson of the Public Service Week Steering Committee, Mrs. Elvia Smith-Maduro said government ministries, departments and statutory bodies will be competing in various activities and sporting events, in addition to recognition ceremonies which highlight the achievements of public officers.
Mrs. Smith-Maduro added, “Public Service Week not only serves as a means of camaraderie, but it serves as a way for the Public Service to give back and make a difference through strengthening our available resources and service to the public.”
Pre-events begin on September 24 with a week-long dollar drive to raise funds for a number of community service projects.
Other activities will include Wacky Dress Day; a Panel Discussion on topics concerning Public Officers; Softball, Basketball and Dominoes Finals and a Last Man Standing Challenge.
Public officers will also be recognised through an Employee Recognition Ceremony for their years of service, after working for 10, 25 and 35 years with Government. Additionally, the annual invitation-only Retirees’ Dinner will be held to pay tribute to stalwart public officers who will be proceeding into retirement.
Public Officers are to liaise with their team captains to participate in the week’s events.
Public Service Week is held annually to highlight and reward the contributions of public officers to the Territory’s development. It also provides members of the public with an opportunity to gain a better appreciation and understanding of the work of the Public Service.
