Residents who have experienced service interruption to their water supply from the Fort Hill and Sabbath Hill Reservoir are informed that the disruption was due to technical issues caused by electrical surges at the Biwater Plant.

According to the Ministry of Communications and Works, a flange at the Paraquita Bay site erupted as a result of the electricity surge and disrupted the water supply. The Department of Water and Sewerage expected to see a resumption of the service to affected areas on Tuesday, May 19, but were advised by technicians to allow systems to reach a 70% humidity level in the curing process to ensure optimal efficiency.

The ministry said Biwater plant has gone through the necessary curing process and has been refilled and is now in operation. The curing process ensures that pressure levels are stable for pipes when the system is in operation.

Permanent Secretary for the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mr. Anthony McMaster stated, “The Department of Water and Sewerage has worked vigorously to ensure that water is fully returned today to remaining areas experiencing service interruption.”

Director of the Department of Water and Sewerage, Mrs. Perline Scatliffe-Leonard said, “Water service has been returned to areas on the Ridge Road from Hope Hill into Cane Garden Bay and Fish Bay to Macnamara.”

Customers in Manchester, Belle Vue, Long Trench, Great Mountain, Fort Burt Hill, Road Town, and Sea Cows Bay have also had their service restored while the department is working assiduously to restore service to customers from Rudy’s Bar to Chalwell/Threadfall.

The Department is asking for persons who are not receiving water to contact the Operations Division or Customer Service at telephone numbers 468-5799 or 468-5834, for urgent assistance.

The Ministry of Communications and Works apologises for the inconveniences that have been caused during this time.
