Fire Officers from the Virgin Islands Fire and Rescue Service were able to contain and extinguish a spreading fire in Chalwell Estate in the nick of time on Thursday, January 19. This aerial photograph shows the damage to the vegetation caused by the fire that nearly engulfed surrounding homes.

The following fire officers were commended for a job well done.

• Command and control team: Deputy Chief Fire Officer William Penn, Station Officer Joseph George
• Supplementary Support team: 35 Shawn Rymer, 52 Cuthbert Robinson
