The Department of Agriculture and Fisheries is hosting a registration drive during the month of July which will automatically enter registrants in a raffle to be held at the end of the month.

Director of Agriculture and Fisheries, Theodore James, said this month’s promotion is geared at ensuring that all dogs within the Territory are registered.

“Registering and tagging your dog(s) ensures they are easily identified and returned to you if they escape or are lost and found,” Mr. James said, adding, “This will also assist the Government of the Virgin Islands in establishing partnerships with local and external agencies when coordinating evacuation and relief centres in the event of a natural disaster.”

All dog owners who have registered their pets for the month of July including those who previously registered this year are eligible to win fruit trees and other prizes at the drawing of the raffle. Prizes are provided courtesy of Groundworks BVI and the Fort Garden Centre. The raffle will end on July 31.
