Director of the Water and Sewage Department, Mrs. Perline Scatliffe-Leonard is advising sewerage truck haulers that unauthorised dumping of sewerage at the main pump station or any other part of the Territory is an offense and would be dealt with accordingly.

Mrs. Scatliffe-Leonard while announcing the resumption of the schedule for the main sewerage pump station at the roundabout at Road Town said dumping will not be allowed if a payment receipt is not presented to the officer on site.

The Director added, “Truckers are asked to note that no dumping will be allowed at the station when cruise ships are in port.In the event of an emergency, the situation will be assessed, following which management will approve if dumping will be allowed.”

Mrs. Scatliffe-Leonard added that the public, especially customers, who utilise the services of sewerage truck haulers, should take note of the scheduled days and times for dumping and the cut-off times, so that the service may be requested in line with the dumping schedule.

Trucks must be at the dumpsite thirty minutes before close-off time in order to be allowed to dump.

The schedule implemented since March 2015 is as follows:

  • Monday to Saturday, 6:00 a.m. to 8:45 a.m.     (8:15 a.m. to be able to dump)
  • Sundays 10:00 p.m. to Midnight, (11:30 p.m. to be able to dump)

The cooperation of the users of the station including sewerage truck haulers and their customers is solicited in protecting the assets placed to ensure an environmentally sound sewerage system for residents and visitors to the Virgin Islands.
