Sister Island Coordinator, Ms. Sasha Flax has said that the clean-up activities on Anegada, Jost Van Dyke and Virgin Gorda were successful ventures.

Ms. Flax said the Sister Island Island-Wide clean-up activities were done in June and commended the various groups for their participation in the initiative.

Ms. Flax said, “We hope that it will transfer into a continued sense of pride and cleanliness throughout the entire Territory. We also would like to thank the Department of Waste Management for their assistance and P3, Paper, Plastic products for their donation of gloves.”

Twenty-seven bags of garbage were collected on Anegada by members of the BVI Tourist Board, BVI Electricity Corporation, BVI Red Cross and the Anegada Community.

Students of the Jost Van Dyke Primary School, the Jost Van Dyke Preservation Society, the Church of God of Prophecy youth group, and another group led by Ms. Lena Warner collected 18 bags of garbage.

Meanwhile on Virgin Gorda, 48 bags of garbage were collected by the students of the Bregado Flax Educational Centre - Secondary and Primary Divisions; Scouts, the Seventh Day Adventist Church, STARR Home and Gardening Works; and the Raw Skillz Track Club. Other groups include the Rotaract Club of Virgin Gorda, Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc.; Women of Power and High Potential (WOPAHP), the Catholic Youth Group, Virgin Gorda Football Association, Valley Sound Lions Club, Morganna Tilling & Linda Giersing and Camp 86.
