Statement from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions
Regarding Inaccurate Reporting in the Article ‘US$100K Bail for UK National’

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions was recently made aware of a December 2, 2020 news article that inaccurately suggested that a man faced $100,000 bail and would shortly face trial in the Magistrate’s Court.

In actual fact, no complaint has been proffered against the individual named in the story. This has been confirmed by both the Magistrate’s Court and the Police Prosecution Department.  No Criminal Proceedings have commenced against the individual.

Members of the press and public reading the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force’s arrest blotter should be reminded that persons charged by police may or may not thereafter have Criminal Proceedings commenced against them by the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions.
