The Government of the Virgin Islands congratulates the people of Suriname as they celebrate their country's independence. 
"The Government and people of the Virgin Islands is grateful for the strong bonds of friendship that exist with the  Government and people of the Republic of Suriname.  I had the opportunity to visit Suriname when they hosted the Caricom Heads of Government meeting in 2022, and the hospitality, cultural richness, and physical beauty a witnessed was awe-inspiring.  I wish the Republic of Suriname a hearty congratulations on their 48th year of independence, and may our bonds of friendship become even stronger!"
