The cruise ship Disney Wonder visited the Territory on August 29 for the first time since the passage of the Tropical Wave.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Dr. the Honourable D. Orlando Smith, OBE and Ministry for Communications and Works, Honourable Mark Vanterpool welcomed the captain, crew members and the ship’s passengers.

Honourable Vanterpool said the Government is pleased to host the Disney Cruise Line along with its President, Mr. Karl Holz, after the recent flood. He said Government is working to get things back to normal including resurfacing damaged roadways, some of which have been completed.

“We have completed some of the roads that were a bit hazardous. The Belle Vue and Joe’s Hill road will be finished by today. Then we will head to East End/ Long Look tomorrow and Huntum’s Ghut on Friday”, Honourable Vanterpool said.

The Minister added that passengers are enjoying their stay and that the cruise company is happy to see that the Territory is recovering quickly.

Following the passage of the Tropical Wave on August 7, the Ministry of Communications and Works tasked its respective departments to mobilise teams to clean up and restore the Territory to a normal state.

The Ministry of Communications and Works thanks the community for their resilience and assistance.

Standing Strong. We are #OneBVI.
