Trèfle Designs was overwhelmingly voted as The People’s Choice during the 2015 Business of the Year competition held on Monday, February 29.
Trèfle Designs Inc., owned and operated by Ms. Kristin Fraser, was named Business of the Month for September 2015 during the Department of Trade and Consumer Affairs’ campaign to promote and assist small businesses in the Territory.
Nine businesses vied for the title as part of the competition held at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium where the audience had an opportunity to select their favorite Business of the Year candidate to receive the People’s Choice Award.
Ms. Fraser’s winnings include the People’s Choice Award trophy and certificate, along with one year free landline, mobile, internet and data services from telecommunications provider, Digicel.
Ms. Fraser said she is thankful to have won the award and she was grateful to all who know, love and support her work. “This is a fantastic honour and award and I look forward to working with Digicel,” she stated.
The People’s Choice winner added that she will be coming up with a special promotional discount on her 2016 line for the British Virgin Islands community to express her gratitude for the support received during the Business of the Year competition.
Ms. Fraser said she has always had a passion for sewing, fashion, art, design, and culture and that served as the foundation on which she developed the brand. She added that by incorporating her heritage from her late grandmother, Ruth Clover Anthony, and her mother Ruth Fraser, she has nurtured her business from a dream to a reality.
Junior Minister for Trade and Investment Promotion, Honourable Marlon A. Penn, while speaking at the event said, “We also know that small businesses are the largest drivers of any economy and the work of the department of Trade, Investment Promotion and Consumer Affairs is testament to the work that Government is doing at to move businesses forward to help them grow into medium and large sized businesses.”
Honourable Penn commended the contestants for their presentations during the competition and the audience for their support and encouraged them to continue supporting the small businesses in the British Virgin Islands.
A number of Government officials attended the Business of the Year event that was the culmination of the Business of the Month promotion in 2015, which was designed to fuel the entrepreneurial spirit.
