Last week, medical supplies bound for the British Virgin Islands were seized by US Customs and Border Protection en route to the Territory. Minister of Health and Social Development, Honourable Carvin Malone asked for my assistance as Governor, since which time my team at the Governor’s Office have been working with US colleagues to resolve.

I am pleased to report that the medical supplies have now been released by the US and the shipment is due to arrive in the Territory shortly. I’d like to say thank you to our US colleagues in Bridgetown and London, and the BVI Health Services Authority, who have worked together to achieve this outcome.

The shipment includes critical supplies of personal protective equipment. Next week, we are expecting another shipment to arrive in the Territory from the UK Government, which will include medical supplies and further personal protective equipment. These supplies are crucial to our ongoing efforts to fight the virus here.
