The Government of the Virgin Islands is seeking four (4) qualified persons to fill the following:
Members of the Financial Services Appeals Board
Job Summary: A Member of the Financial Services Appeals Board (the “Board”) is responsible for participating in the activities of the Board as it relates to the handling of appeals matters in accordance with the Financial Services Appeals Board Act and the Board’s Rules of Procedure.
Minimum Educational Requirements: Bachelor’s Degree preferably in law and/or other financial services related field of study.
Training/Skill/Experience Requirements:
- Minimum five (5) years working experience in field of expertise.
- Leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to think strategically, manage complexity and act decisively.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Sound judgment, integrity, and a commitment to upholding the highest ethical standards.
- Sound written and oral communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to maintain good working relationships.
- Proficient understanding of financial services legislation.
Primary Responsibilities include, but are not limited to
- Participating as a member of the Board to consider appeals arising from decisions of the BVI Financial Services Commission (the “Commission”) in the exercise of any of the Commission’s powers under the Financial Services Commission Act or any financial services legislation;
- Participating as a member of the Board to consider appeals from decisions of any other body as mandated under any other enactment; and
- Receiving and considering written complaints relative to the affairs of the Board and dealing with the complaints in such manner as the Board considers appropriate.
NOTES:
- Applicants must reside in the British Virgin Islands.
- Applicants must not be members of the Commission including its Board of Commissioners.
- Applicants must not be engaged in or connected with a person engaged in financial services business in the Virgin Islands.
Compensation: Apart from Public Officers, stipends are paid to members of the Board, at rates determined by the House of Assembly.
