Persons who were employed to assist with the cleanup following the recent flood are asked to submit their documents to allow for timely payments.

Financial Secretary, Glenroy A. Forbes is encouraging persons to submit their documents on time to assist the Ministry of Finance in expediting payments for services rendered for the cleanup efforts on behalf of the Government.

The Financial Secretary said the onus is on vendors to ensure that the proper documentation with accurate information is submitted to various instructing ministries in a timely manner.

Mr. Forbes said that heavy equipment operators and other vendors employed to carry out cleanup works are aware of Government’s rates, standards and other expectations.

“Contractors are encouraged to take photographs of sites before and after the works are completed which are to be enclosed with the invoices. Other information required is a breakdown as to the number of hours worked and scope of works executed”, he said.

Once the relevant documents are received by the instructing ministry, a representative from that ministry or department will review the executed works and forward the requisite purchase order and or voucher to the Ministry of Finance for the payments to be processed. All documents will be processed as they are received.

The Government of the Virgin Islands is working expeditiously to restore the community to its normal state, and encourages residents to unite and support each other during this time of recovery. Standing Strong. We are #OneBVI.
