The Government of the Virgin Islands is reminding customs brokers, agents and traders that Her Majesty’s Customs is moving towards full automation of its Cargo Declaration system with the introduction of its automated Web Trader Programme on May 4.

To register, brokers and agents can login at bvicaps.gov.vg/CAPSWeb/TraderLogin.jsp. Once registered, traders, brokers and agents will be issued with a Trader Identification Number and a web account.  With the use of the new system, trader declarations can be completed and submitted online. Additionally, traders can search for tariff rates online, preview customs declaration forms online and receive payment summaries via email.

The public is reminded that the current manual system will be gradually phased out as the new system improves the collection of data on customs brokerage activity, and eliminates the need for officers to manually input data. For more information, persons should contact the Customs Headquarters at 494-3475 extension 6807 to book a training session. Alternatively they can email caps@gov.vg.
