Safe Haven Transitional Centre provides a number of therapeutic services for its clients. These include job readiness skills, life skills (retraining), case management, supported employment, independent employment, transitional employment, psycho-educational groups, individual counselling and outreach services.

Process

Step 1:  A person must be referred to the Centre by any of the following agencies:                                  

  • Community Mental Health Services and Substance Abuse Rehabilitation Unit
  • Social Development Department
  • BVI Health Services Authority Social Services Unit
  • BVI Health Services Authority Behavioral Health Unit
  • Private Care Providers/Counselors
  • Royal Virgin Islands Police Force
  • Her Majesty's Prison

Consideration will also be given to walk-in cases where individuals recognize their issues and are seeking assistance or remediation.  A referral must be accompanied by a bio-psychosocial assessment where applicable.

Step 2:  The referral will be reviewed by the Centre and if further information is required, a staff from the Centre will make contact with the referring agency.  

Step 3:  A decision will be made within one to two weeks.  Emergency cases will be handled on a needs basis.
