Tutoring is a special kind of teaching/learning practice which compliments the regular teaching-learning environment. In this unique teaching-learning practice the tutor's goal is to lead the turee toward independent learning. For this reason, the underscored instruction modes include one-on-one attention, individual explanation, and a chance for tutees to ask as many questions as they like. 

Process

Step 1:  The letter of intent or proposal should be submitted to the Department of Education. 

Step 2:  The review and action of the letter/proposal is then carried out by the Education Officer.

Step 3:  The letter/proposal is then approved by the Education Officer. 

Step 4:  The review and action is then carried out by the Ministry of Education and Culture. 

Step 5:  The review and action is then carried out by Trade and Investment Promotion Divison after it is reviewed by the Ministry of Education and Culture.

Step 6:  Periodic visits would then be conducted by the Education Officers. 

Note: This step is dependent on the approval issued by Trade and Investment Promotion division.

  • Name of Tutorial Service 
  • Location
  • Coordinators
  • Instructors: immigration status, academic and teaching competencies 
  • Instructors course and instructor fees
  • Instructor-student ratio
  • Instruction types to be employed
  • Syllabus/Course outlines (if different from those employed by the Department of Education)
  • Resources
  • Sessions schedule (Ex. Monday and Wednesday from 6:00 - 7:00pm) 
  • Methods for assessing/reporting students' progress
  • Assessment/Evaluation procedures for tutors
  • Certification proficiency criteria
